Brooks spent the previous 11 years of his career at Hollard Insurance. From 2007 until 2015 he was CFO there, crowned with a nomination for the CFO Awards during the last year with his tenure as finance executive. In the previous three years, Brooks was executive director for Hollard International.

Earlier in his career, Brooks worked as Head of Finance for Stanbic Bank in East Africa after which he spent time as FD at Airports Company South Africa. His career has now become full circle at the business and investment bank that has it sights firmly at South Africa and the rest of the continent.

During a candid interview with CFO South Africa in 2015, Brooks proved to be a finance leader with great passion for Africa and a keen eye on the future:

“As far back as 2001, after an insightful trip to Rwanda, I set a goal for myself to contribute to the growth of Africa. I realised my focus needs to be on the continent. I see myself as a leader with a finance background. The title is less important, but I can’t be Hollard’s CFO for the next 30 years, right?”
