Careers: Sasol appoints Nqwababa, Atkinson new CFO Esor

Sasol has appointed Bongani Nqwababa as its new Chief Financial Officer. In an exclusive interview with CFO South Africa (click to read!), Eskom Finance Director Thsolofelo Molefe recently mentioned Nqwababa – one of her predecessors – as one of the people she turns to for support and advice. Nqwababa has also previously served as CFO of Shell Southern Africa and he has previously been chairman of the audit committee of the South African Revenue Service (SARS).

Since 2009 Nqwababa has been the finance director of Anglo American Platinum (Amplats), where has now left to replace Sasol's acting CFO Paul Victor. Nqwababa has stepped down as independent non-executive director and the audit committee member at the energy and chemicals group and will succeed Victor latest next year March, but possibly earlier, according to Sasol.

Contruction group Esor has also announced a new CFO appointment. The JSE-listed company has promoted Bruce Atkinson from within its own ranks to grow the company in South Africa and help conquer new markets in neighbouring countries. Atkinson has been with Esor for 7 years and has worked in various positions, lastly as Group Finance Manager.

At Siemens South Africa Stephan Mueller has taken over from Sabine Dall'Omo, who has taken over as CEO of Siemens' Regional Company in South Africa. Mueller has been with Siemens since 1999 and has fulfilled various roles in Germany and China. He was previously the CFO of the Business Unit Locomotives and Components of Siemens AG.

Internationally, Mondelez International announced that former Dell executive Brian Gladden will take over as CFO in January, while the current CFO David Brearton will go to Mondelez's joint venture with D.E Master Blenders. British utility company Telecom Plus announced that Nick Schoenfeld will replace Finance Director Chris Houghton at the beginning of next year.
