CFO Raj Lalbahadur appointed interim CEO at Media24

Media24 has made a significant leadership change, appointing CFO Raj Lalbahadur as interim CEO following the announcement of CEO Ishmet Davidson's retirement after 12 years at the company.

In big media moves, Media24 has announced the appointment of its CFO, Raj Lalbahadur, as interim CEO, effective 9 September 2024.

This comes after CEO Ishmet Davidson announced his retirement plans, after serving 12 years at the media company.

"I am humbled and honoured by the board’s confidence in me,” said Raj. “With the support of our outstanding people and excellent leadership team, I look forward to working even closer with the teams as we enter the future in this ever-changing landscape.”

Raj joined Media24 as a senior financial manager in 2007. He was then promoted to chief financial officer of Media24’s lifestyle division in 2009.

In 2015, he acted as Media24’s chief financial officer and was soon appointed general manager of its Lifestyle division in 2017.

In 2018, he joined the corporate office as a group project management officer, before taking the group CFO role in 2003, which included being the director responsible for the finance function.

Raj holds a BCom from Unisa and an MBA from the New York Finance Institute.
