De Beers Group appoints Sarah Kuijlaars as its CFO

Sarah Kuijlaars looks forward to joining the diamond industry as De Beers's new CFO.

UK-headquartered De Beers Group has appointed Sarah Kuijlaars as its new CFO with effect from 1 September. 

About her appointment, Sarah said: 

“I’m very pleased to be joining De Beers Group and the diamond industry. I look forward to working with the leadership team and colleagues and partners around the world to help deliver the company’s strategy.”

Sarah was previously CFO of Arcadis NV, a leading global design and engineering consultancy, with a listing on the Euronext Amsterdam Stock Exchange. Prior to this, Sarah was deputy CFO at Rolls Royce Holdings, and held a number of senior financial leadership roles during a 25-year career at Royal Dutch Shell. She has worked in several geographies including Nigeria, Russia, Brazil and the Middle East. 

Sarah is also a non-executive director at Aggreko, a leading international provider of mobile modular power, temperature control and energy services.

Sarah has a mathematics degree from Oxford University, is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (FCMA) and an associate member of Corporate Treasurers.

Sarah will be taking over from Nimesh Patel, who resigned on 2 April and will leave the group on 26 July. 

De Beers CEO Bruce Cleaver said:

I’m delighted that Sarah is joining the De Beers Group Board and Executive Committee and look forward to working closely with her as we continue to deliver our transformation agenda.”
