Wealthy South Africans favour luxury SUVs, according to the 2019 South Africa Wealth Report.

As part of their 2019 South Africa Wealth Report, AfrAsia Bank and New World Wealth reviewed the local luxury car industry in South Africa.

The report showed that luxury SUVs are the only car segment in South Africa that has seen any growth over the past few years, as sales of most other car types have declined.

The reasons listed for their rising popularity were:

  • High road clearance
  • Safety aspects
  • Space for children
  • Useful for holidays

The report also listed the most popular SUVs for wealthy South Africans, ranked by price:

  • Rolls Royce Cullinan
  • Bentley Bentayga
  • Lamborghini Urus
