Ex-deputy finance minister Jabu Moleketi new PPC board chair

PPC has appointed Jabu Moleketi, a former deputy finance minister, as its new chairman of the board.

South African cement-maker PPC has appointed former deputy finance minister Jabu Moleketi as its new board chairman. Moleketi was Deputy Minister of Finance under President Thabo Mbeki, from 2004 to 2008.

Moleketi’s appointment comes just one month after PPC replaced its chief executive. In February, the company appointed Johan Claassen as its CEO and executive director. Claassen took over from Darryll Castle, and filled the role in an interim capacity before being permananetly appointed.

Over the years and presently, Moleketi has served on several boards, including the Development Bank of Southern Africa, Brait SE, Remgro, Nedbank Group, and Vodacom Group.
