Insurance group Alexander Forbes has named Nonkululeko Nyembezi-Heita, former ArcelorMittal SA CEO, as the new chairperson of its board. She is the first woman chair in the company’s 82-year existence.
Alexander Forbes said in a statement that Nyembezi-Heita "joins the company at a time of strategic and business transformation in the implementation of its 'ambition 2022' growth strategy, to create a globally distinctive pan-African financial services leader anchored in five core business pillars".
Nyembezi-Heita is currently also chairperson of JSE Limited, and CEO of Ichor Coal, a Dutch trading company.
She will assume the role as chairman from January 2018.
