Fortress appoints Bram Goossens as independent non-executive director

The former Equites Property Fund CFO will be taking over from retiring Djurk Venter.

Fortress REIT has appointed former Equites Property Fund CFO Bram Goossens as an independent non-executive director. Bram will be taking over from Djurk Venter, who has retired.

Bram has also been appointed as a member of the audit committee and the social, ethics and sustainability committee.

Bram finished his schooling in Germany and then moved to Cape Town where he completed his tertiary education at the University of Cape Town. He joined PwC in Cape Town in 2002 as an articled clerk and was admitted as a chartered accountant in 2005. He then was accepted as a partner at PwC South Africa in 2012 and serviced some of PwC's major clients including Shoprite Holdings, Luxottica, Fruit & Veg City and Tradehold.

He advises a number of large corporates and private equity firms. He previously served as the CFO of Equites Property Fund from shortly after its listing in 2014 until December 2019. He also previously served as the chair of the accounting and JSE committee of the SA REIT association and drove the drafting and release of the second edition of the SA REIT Best Practice Recommendations.

At the beginning of 2020, Bram founded his own corporate advisory practice, Blue Triangle.
