Garry Pita appointed Transnet Group CFO

State-owned Transnet has permanently appointed Garry Pita (pictured) as Group CFO, with effect from 1 February 2016. In August last year, Pita was appointed acting Group CFO, taking the place of Anoj Singh, who was seconded to Eskom.

With 10 years of service at Transnet, Pita, a chartered accountant, has much experience leading key strategic aspects of the company's finance function, including heading up the International Financial Reporting Standard Conversion and Transnet's group internal control. As Group CFO he will be responsible for all aspects of the company's financial strategy. This includes overseeing its funding and capital investment programmes, managing procurement, financial risks and adherence to the highest standards of governance and internal controls.
