Grant Pattison, ex Massmart chief, new Edcon CEO

post-title

Former Massmart executive Grant Pattison (pictured) has been appointed Edcon CEO, his primary aim to assemble a new board with retail experience and hopefully pull the struggling retail group out of the doldrums.

Pattison, who was instrumental in the acquisition of general goods retailer Massmart by US retailer Wal-Mart in 2011, has said that restoring Edcon to its former glory is a privilege and a challenge.

Pattison will initially join the company as a COO from June, taking over from outgoing CEO Bernie Brookes in February next year. Pattison was also appointed to a new board in April - one that is more in tune with the retail industry.
