Harmony Gold appoints Boipelo Lekubo as its new FD

Lekubo's appointment follows the resignation of Frank Abbott and comes into effect from 3 March.

Harmony Gold has announced the appointment of Boipelo Lekubo as its new FD starting 3 March. 

According to a statement, the company said that the appointment is in line with its succession plan and has followed a rigorous candidate search internally and externally. 

Lekubo will be taking over from Frank Abbott, who will continue in the role until 2 March as part of the handover process. He will remain on the board as an executive director and assume responsibility for business development. 

Lekubo served as Harmony’s CFO from June 2017. She is a qualified CA(SA) with extensive experience in group financial manager and reporting within the mining industry. Her previous roles include CFO of Atlatsa Resources Corporation and financial manager of Northam Platinum. She served as an independent non-executive director of Trans Hex Group from August 2013 until March 2017 and currently serves as an independent non-executive director on the boards of African Rainbow Capital and UBI General Partner, where she was appointed on 7 June 2018.
