Herman Singh joins Telkom board as independent non-executive director

Herman Singh will step into the role of independent non-executive director from 25 September.

Herman Singh will join Telkom’s board as an independent non-executive director with effect from 25 September 2020. 

Herman is the CEO of Future Advisory, an international firm specialising in digital transformation projects in corporates, and startup acceleration. He is also a columnist for CFO South Africa. He graduated from Wits at the age of 19 with a four-year Engineering degree. He obtained two post grad qualifications in the subsequent few years and ascended to a managing director role at a Barlows factory at 28. He also served as a managing director of Siemens’ Industry Division. He then joined Standard Bank as the director of e-commerce and online services, before becoming director of IT planning and CEO of the bank's innovation hub Beyond Payments. In 2013 he moved into telecommunications as managing executive of m-Commerce, and until recently he was the CDO at MTN.

Telkom has also announced the appointment of Alphonzo Samuels as a non-executive director to the board with effect from 1 January 2021. 

The appointment follows the retirement of Santie Botha and Khanyisile Kweyama as independent non-executive directors of the board with effect from 25 September 2020 and 31 December 2020 respectively.
