Hilton Worldwide has said it intends spending $50 million over the next five years adding as many as 100 hotels to its chain in Africa. Included in this will be one new property opening in Nairobi, Kenya’s capital, by the end of this year, and another in Kigali, Rwanda’s capital, next year.

Patrick Fitzgibbon (pictured), Hilton's senior VP for development in EMEA said:

"The model of converting existing hotels into Hilton-branded properties has proved highly successful in a variety of markets and we expect to see great opportunities to convert hotels to Hilton brands through this initiative."

Hilton added that the remaining additions to its 39 existing African properties would be operational within the next five years.
