AECI has announced that Ian Kramer has been appointed acting CFO, effective until 30 June 2025. He takes on the interim role after the resignation of previous CFO and executive director, Rochelle Gabriels.

Prior to his appointment as acting CFO, Ian was AECI’s senior finance advisor. According to Dr Khotso Mokhele, AECI chairman, Ian is well placed to lead the finance team and continue its work delivering on the company's growth strategy. “Ian is a highly accomplished finance executive with global experience in finance, auditing and business leadership,” says Khotso.

A chartered accountant, Ian completed his BCom (Hons) in accountancy at the University of Pretoria. His expertise spans financial reporting, tax, risk management, IT and treasury functions, as well as extensive experience in the mining sector. In 2022, he was appointed acting CFO for AngloGold Ashanti, after being with the mining giant since 2012 and serving as VP of finance. Prior to that, Ian spent 20 years at KPMG, where he was appointed as the KPMG head of mining for Africa.

AECI has started the process of identifying suitable candidates for the appointment of a permanent CFO and executive director, and stakeholders will be advised of this appointment once completed.
