Dushnisky replaces outgoing CEO and executive director Srinivasan Venkatakrishnan.

International gold mining company AngloGold Ashanti has appointed Kelvin Dushnisky as CEO and executive director, effective 1 September 2018. Sipho Pityana, AngloGold Ashanti chairperson, says Dushnisky’s appointment follows an “extremely competitive global search”.

Dushnisky replaces Srinivasan Venkatakrishnan (Venkat), who leaves at the end of August for a role at Vedanta Resources. Venkat has been with AngloGold Ashanti for 18 years, the last five of which were in the position of CEO.

Dushnisky says he feels honoured and excited to unlock the “enormous potential” that exists in AngloGold Ashanti, a company which “has a strong portfolio of assets and an exciting pipeline of organic growth opportunities”.

Dushnisky moves into his new role at AngloGold Ashanti from the world’s number one gold producer, Barrick Gold Corporation, where he was president and executive director.
