Krishna Govender to step in as acting PRASA CFO

Krishna will be taking over from Lesibana Fosu as CFO of PRASA with immediate effect.

The Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) has announced the appointment of Krishna Govender as acting CFO with immediate effect. He has taken over from Lesibana Fosu, who had been appointed as the agency’s CFO in September 2019.

Krishna is a qualified chartered accountant with almost 25 years’ experience in accounting and financial management in both the public and private sectors. He currently serves as part of the technical advisory team, as well as chairperson of the revenue enhancement and cost containment subcommittee of the PRASA group executive committee. 

According to a statement, Krishna has been tasked to reduce PRASA’s budget deficit after it has presented an unfunded budget over the past few years, wherein projected expenses exceeded expected income. His responsibilities will include improving the agency’s finance policy deficiencies, finance systems and controls, document management system for group finance and turnaround times.
