The seasoned finance professional takes on the new role effective 30 July.
Ascendis Health has announced the appointment of Lihle Mbele CA(SA) as its interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO), effective 30 July 2024. Lihle, a chartered accountant with over 15 years’ professional experience assumes this critical role following her significant contributions as the Group Head of Finance.
The Audit & Risk Committee of Ascendis Health confirmed Lihle’s qualifications and experience, endorsing her suitability to take on the responsibilities of the role. The Board of Directors has expressed confidence in her ability to guide Ascendis Health through its next phase, acknowledging her extensive background within the company and the broader healthcare sector.
Lihle joined Ascendis Health in 2016 as a Finance Manager for Ascendis Skin and Body. Her talent and dedication quickly led to her promotion to Head of Finance for the Ascendis Consumer Brands division, where she oversaw five companies. Her leadership and financial acumen were pivotal during this period, driving significant improvements in financial performance and operational efficiency across the division.
In 2023, Lihle was appointed Group Head of Finance, a role that expanded her oversight to the financial operations of Ascendis Health. Demonstrating her versatility and strategic insight, she simultaneously served as the Managing Director of Ascendis Consumer Brands and Group Head of Finance from early 2024, further solidifying her reputation as a dynamic and effective leader within the organisation.
Lihle’s career began in 2009 as an articled clerk at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), where she honed her skills in audit and financial management. She later joined Barloworld Equipment, taking on the role of Management Accountant, where she gained valuable experience in financial planning and analysis.
Commenting on her appointment, Lihle said, “I am excited to step into the CFO role and to continue doing what I enjoy most.
