Marc was appointed as CEO of Planet42 as of 1 September, 2024.
He holds a bachelor’s in accounting from the University of Witwatersrand and prior to being CEO of Planet42, he served as CFO for over one year
“I am excited to take on the challenge and feel that the many years spent as a commercially-minded CFO have prepared me well,” he says.
He explains that when he took over the CEO role, the company was going through a particularly challenging time and the first thing he needed to achieve was radical transformation to put the company in a sustainable position from which to grow.
“Now that has been achieved, my mission is to make mobility accessible by delivering a high quality and transparent product to our customers. By setting a clear vision, implementing a disciplined approach to capital allocation and empowering my team I believe we can transform the mobility space,” he says.
He describes his leadership style as a blend of transformational and people-focused leadership. What this means practically is setting a vision which sets a clear direction and allows him to empower his team to own their journey, fostering a culture of ownership and accountability.
“While I lead by example and provide guidance, I also give my team the space to take full ownership, trusting them to innovate and grow. I prioritise open communication and partnerships, creating an inclusive and supportive environment where everyone feels valued. Ultimately, I believe in elevating my team and navigating challenges together, ensuring we are all aligned with our shared strategic goals,” he says.
