Mohammed Mahomedy new Transnet Interim CFO

Mohammed Mahomedy has been appointed as the Interim Group CFO of Transnet.

Transnet has appointed Mohammed Mahomedy as the new Interim Group Chief Financial Officer with effect from 15 May 2018. 

Mohammed will be taking over from previous Interim Group CFO, Mark Gregg-Macdonald, who was holding the fort after Garry Pita’s resignation. 

Mohammed is a Chartered Accountant with 12 years of service at Transnet, where has led key strategic portfolios within Finance. Before being appointed interim Group Chief Financial Officer, he was General Manager Finance at Transnet Group Capital. He also set up and managed the Group Capital Integration Assurance portfolio and was part of the finance executive at Transnet Freight Rail, where he also acted as CFO. 

“His appointment validates the major strides in stabilising the leadership of Transnet and the robustness of the company’s succession planning,” says Siyabonga Gama, Transnet’s Group Chief Executive.

In his new role, Mohammed will formulate and lead all aspects of the company’s financial strategy, including overseeing the company’s funding, capital investment programmes, managing procurement, financial risks and adherence to the highest standards of governance and internal controls. 

Mohammed will also join the Board of Directors.
