Mpumi has been appointed as CEO designate to ensure a smooth transition into the top job.
Mpumi Madisa, who has been appointed as the new CEO designate of Bidvest Group, will be working closely with current CEO Lindsay Ralphs until the 2021 financial year.
This designated period will ensure that Mpumi’s transition into the CEO role goes as smoothly as possible, so she can take over the task of driving growth for a successful conglomerate with diversified operations once she steps into the role officially.
The company said that the appointment is consistent with a comprehensive succession plan that was developed and has been executed over the past several years to specifically mentor and continue Mpumi’s preparation for the CEO role.
Mpumi joined Bidvest in 2013 and is currently an executive director on the Bidvest board.
She holds other external non-executive director roles, including at Adcock Ingram and Business Leadership SA.
Lindsay commented on the appointment of her to-be-successor: “One of our key priorities is developing the next generation of leaders and Mpumi is the perfect example of this. Her exceptional leadership skills and depth of experience will ensure continuity for all Bidvest stakeholders and the Bidvest family”.
Mpumi told Reuters:
“When I started here I didn’t think I’d go all the way to the top but certainly over the last six years Lindsay and I have been working towards this moment, so I’m really honoured to be in this position.”
