Goschen has been with the MTN group in various capacities for the past 14 years. He has been MTN's CFO since August 2013. Prior to this he was the CEO of MTN Nigiera. He will be replaced by Gunter Engling as acting group CFO until a permanent CFO can be appointed.

Engling, a chartered accountant, is currently CEO of MTN Rwanda and has, over the years, held various positions in MTN, including group executive finance reporting to the Group CFO, GM of finance at MTN Nigeria, and CFO at MTN Ghana.

Speaking on the matter, MTN said:

"Gunter has extensive knowledge and understanding of MTN Group's financial matters, workings and stewardship and will have the benefit of a close working relationship with Brett until his departure at the end of September 2016."
