MTN South Africa appoints Sugentharen Perumal as acting CFO

His appointment comes into effect with Sandile Ntsele's departure to support Group CFO Ralph Mupita.

MTN South Africa has announced the appointment of Sugentharen Perumal as its acting CFO.

According to a statement from the telecommunications giant, Sugen will be taking over from Sandile Ntsele, who will be supporting MTN Group CFO and CFO of the Year Ralph Mupita on “several strategic projects that are key for the execution of MTN’s Group strategy” with effect from 1 November 2019. 

Sugen is currently the executive for MTN Group Finance, responsible for group finance operations and revenue assurance and fraud management. He is a qualified chartered accountant with more than 20 years of experience in leading the strategic and operational planning and management of financial services of major companies in the public and private sectors. 

Prior to this, he was the CFO of MTN Irancell. 

The statement said that MTN South Africa will be undertaking a “comprehensive search” for a permanent CFO. 

About Sandile’s departure, MTN South Africa CEO Godfrey Motsa said: 

“I am very proud of the significant contribution that Sandile has made in the MTN South Africa business, especially in the last three years working with me. I wish him well in his new role.” 

Sandile has been with MTN for 20 years and has served in various roles across various markets like Nigeria, Cameroon and Zambia. 

According to the statement, he has played an integral role in driving strategic, commercial and financial stewardship for the business.
