MultiChoice South Africa appoints Nyiko Shiburi as new CEO

Nyiko Shiburi’s appointment forms part of an entire executive reshuffle at MultiChoice.

MultiChoice South Africa has announced the appointment of Nyiko Shiburi as its new CEO.

Prior to the appointment, Nyiko served as the regional director of MultiChoice Africa for the Southern Region – a role which will be taken over by former group chief people officer Fhulufhelo Badugela.

About the appointment, MultiChoice Group CEO Calvo Mawela said:

“Nyiko is an extremely experienced leader and has successfully navigated the complexity of multiple territories and businesses, working with deeply skilled teams within the organisation as well as a multitude of stakeholders in our ecosystem.”

MultiChoice said that Nyiko’s job will include driving “the growth and momentum of the South African business based on the differentiated offering which resonates strongly with customers”.

MultiChoice South Africa has also announced the appointment of current chief customer officer Simon Camerer as COO, SuperSport CEO Gideon Khobane will take up the position of group executive of general entertainment, and M-Net CEO Nkateko Mabaso has been appointed as group executive of programming.

Current head of acquisitions and marketing at SuperSport Marc Jury has been promoted to CEO.
