Nomathamsanqa Ashom joins Ngubane & Co as MD

Noma has extensive finance experience in industries ranging from mining to financial services.

Financial services firm Ngubane & Co has appointed Nomathamsanqa Ashom (Noma) as its new managing director. 

Noma is a qualified CA(SA) with more than 10 years' post-qualification experience in audit, risk management, corporate governance, integrated reporting, business analysis, IFRS technical experience and project management. She has worked in industries ranging from mining to financial services, to manufacturing. 

Noma was seconded to PwC Lagos, Nigeria, for over two years where she gained experience in project management, technical support and audit readiness on IFRS conversions projects. During her time at PwC, she facilitated training for all levels of employees including executive members at PwC Lagos and other PwC clients. She also assisted clients with listing requirements for the UK Stock Exchange and Nigerian Stock Exchange. 

In 2013, Noma joined Sasol Oil as a technical manager in corporate reporting where her key responsibility was to ensure compliance with IFRS reporting standards and to advise the finance department on accounting implications of contracts. 

Noma has served as audit partner from 2014 to date servicing clients in both the private and public sector. Noma serves as a pre-issuance quality reviewer for the Auditor General. In 2018, she joined Ngubane & Co. She was later appointed as the national assurance leader before being appointed as MD.

Noma is a committee member on the Education Board Sub Committee for the Independent Regulatory Board of Auditors and serves on the board and audit committee of Vergenoeg Mining Company. She also serves as the deputy chair of the South African Auditing Profession Trust Initiative (SAAPTI).
