Francois van Rooyen will succeed long-serving group CFO Jan Hofmeyr following a transition period, as OUTsurance opts for an internal leadership handover.

OUTsurance has appointed Francois van Rooyen as its new group CFO, effective following a handover period in October 2026.

Francois, who currently serves as CFO of OUTsurance South Africa, will succeed Jan Hofmeyr, who is stepping down after 18 years in the group CFO role to pursue a new opportunity in the fintech sector.

The insurer said Jan will remain in his position until October 2026 to ensure a smooth and orderly transition. The succession plan underscores OUTsurance’s commitment to leadership continuity as the group continues to execute its growth strategy.

An established leader within the business, Francois will assume the CFO and financial director responsibilities from 3 October.

Since joining the OUTsurance group in 2018, he has held several senior finance positions. He was appointed CFO of OUTsurance South Africa in 2022, a role he continues to hold.

Francois brings extensive institutional knowledge and experience to the position. Having led the financial function of the group’s South African operations, he has developed a deep understanding of the business, its risk framework, operational dynamics and long-term strategic priorities.

His appointment reflects OUTsurance’s preference for developing and promoting talent from within, ensuring continuity while positioning the group for its next phase of growth.
