Safaricom appoints Ilana Darcy as interim CFO

Ilana will be taking over from Sateesh Kamath, who has been promoted to Vodafone CFO.

Kenya-based Safaricom has appointed Ilana Darcy, its head of investor relations, as interim CFO as of 1 July. 

Ilana will be taking over from Sateesh Kamath, who has been appointed as Vodafone Business CFO.

Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa said in a statement that Ilana will be responsible for the overall financial planning, management and oversight of the organisation. 

He added that, as the head of investor relations, Ilana has helped strengthen Safaricom’s position as an attractive stock of choice among the international investment community. 

Ilana joined Safaricom in 2017 as head of finance planning and investor relations. Prior to that, he worked as CFO and group finance manager of Digicel Group South Africa. Before that, he served in various finance positions in organisations including Birds Eye Iglo, Unilever, Tesco Ireland, Dunnes Stores and Logistics 2020.
