Hanré Rossouw will be taking over from exiting CFO Paul Victor in July 2022.

Sasol has announced the appointment of Hanré Rossouw, currently the CFO of Royal Bafokeng Platinum (RBPlat), as its new CFO-designate and executive director designate.

This comes after Paul Victor announced that he will be stepping down as CFO and executive director on 30 June.

Hanré will join Sasol on 4 April 2022 and will succeed Paul on 1 July 2022. He has been the CFO of RBPlat since 1 October 2018 and will step down on 3 April 2022.

RBPlat CEO Steve Phiri thanked Hanré for his valuable contribution since joining the company, saying: “He has been a catalyst for transformation in our business.”

Previously, he was a portfolio manager at Investec Asset Management and, prior to that, the CFO of Xstrata Alloys. He has also held a number of other senior roles at Xstrata in London that involved strategy, mergers and acquisitions, business optimisation and capital markets experience.

His career started as a graduate engineer at Anglo American and he later also worked for Accenture and De Beers Group.

Hanré graduated from Oxford University with a master’s degree in business administration. He also holds a bachelor of engineering degree in chemical engineering and a bachelor of commerce (honours) degree in economics.

Sasol chairman Sipho Nkosi said in a statement that the company is pleased to have appointed Hanré as Sasol’s next CFO. “His background and experience will benefit Sasol in meeting our business opportunities and challenges.”

Paul has agreed to remain with Sasol until the publication of the company’s financial results and suite of annual reports for the year ending 30 June 2022, allowing for a six-month structured handover period.

Sipho also thanked Paul for his “substantial contribution and exemplary leadership” over the past 21 years at Sasol.
