South African Morné Engelbrecht joins Metals Acquisition as new CFO

Starting February, Morné Engelbrecht will be the new CFO heading up finance at Jersey-based Metals Acquisition.

Metals Acquisition (MAC) has announced the appointment of South African Morné Engelbrecht as its new CFO, starting 10 February 2024.

Morné most recently served as both the CEO and CFO of Beach Energy. Before this, he held various roles at Carbon Energy too, including the MD and CEO roles, as well as the CFO and company secretary roles. He has also been a chief controller of LNG development at Interoil Corporation, which has since merged with Exxon, and a GM of finance at Lihir Gold, which has since merged with Newcrest.

Morné started his career in South Africa, as a manager at PwC for six years. After that, he became a financial controller at Harmony Gold, which took him overseas to the South East Asia region.

He has a BCom Honours and a certificate in the theory of accounting from the University of Pretoria, as well as a diploma in accounting from the University of Johannesburg and an MBA from Terrapin.
