Sumari Coetzee appointed CFO of Sanlam Retail Affluent

Seasoned finance executive and chartered accountant Sumari Coetzee has been appointed CFO of Sanlam Retail Affluent, bringing nearly two decades of experience across the financial services and insurance sectors.

Sumari Coetzee has been appointed chief financial officer of Sanlam Retail Affluent, marking a new milestone in a finance career spanning 18 years across the financial services and insurance industries.

A chartered accountant, Sumari joins the role from SanlamAllianz in Morocco, where she served as CFO for General Insurance. During her tenure, she played a key role in leading the Sanlam-Allianz transaction and overseeing the successful integration of Saham. Her contribution to the landmark project earned her the prestigious Sanlam CEO Award.

Prior to her current position, Sumari held several senior leadership roles within Sanlam Emerging Markets and Sanlam Multi Manager International. Earlier in her career, she served as CFO  of Hantam Municipality. 

Announcing her appointment in a LinkedIn post, Coetzee described the move as the beginning of “an exciting new chapter”.

She expressed gratitude to the teams and leaders at SanlamAllianz and Sanlam Emerging Markets for helping her build a strong professional foundation and providing opportunities for growth throughout her career.

“A special thank you to the finance community across our African footprint for the support, collaboration, and commitment to the OneFinance vision,” she said.

She also paid tribute to her colleagues in Morocco, noting that their partnership, dedication and friendship had made a lasting impact on her professional journey. Looking ahead, she said she was excited about the opportunity to contribute to Sanlam Retail Affluent’s continued growth and success.
