One of TymeBank's founding members, Tauriq Keraan, rejoins the bank as its new CEO.

On Wednesday 7 August, TymeBank announced the appointed of Tauriq Keraan as its new CEO with immediate effect.

Keraan will be taking over from Sandile Shabalala, who resigned for personal reasons on 25 June 2019.

According to the statement, Keraan, who previously acted as the bank’s deputy CEO, has played an instrumental role in the bank’s development. He was one of the founding members that led to Tyme’s inception in 2012 and played a critical role in the market launch of Tymebank in 2019, as well as the subsequent maturation of its operations.

TymeBank chairman Thabani Jali said that the bank is pleased that Keraan will take up the position of CEO, as it will “ensure continuity in the business”.

“He is a seasoned executive who will continue to build TymeBank in its efforts to deliver affordable and accessible banking to our customers.”

Keraan has an MSc degree from the University of Cape Town and he has spent 10 years building and scaling digital banking businesses in South Africa.
