Telkom appoints Serame Taukobong as CEO designate

Serame will serve as the CEO designate until July 2022, when he will take up the role of group CEO.

Telkom has announced the appointment of Serame Taukobong as its CEO designate with effect from 1 October. Serame will assume the role of group CEO from 1 July 2022.

Serame, who is currently the CEO of Telkom’s Consumer Business, will be taking over from exiting group CEO Sipho Maseko.

According to Telkom, Sipho and Serame will work together for the remainder of Sipho’s tenure to ensure an orderly transition of the group CEO designate and the stability of the business. During this transition period, Serame will continue to have oversight of the Telkom Consumer Business.

A recruitment process for his successor at the Telkom Consumer Business will commence immediately.

Serame joined Telkom in June 2018 after spending 10 years at MTN, where he held several senior roles, including COO and later CEO of MTN Ghana.
