The South African joins Gatos Silver from Nevada Copper Corporation from 1 July.
US-based Gatos Silver has announced the appointment of André van Niekerk as its new CFO.
Born and raised in South Africa, André holds bachelor’s degrees in accounting from both the University of South Africa and the University of Pretoria, and is a certified public accountant (CPA).
André began his career at KPMG in South Africa and Denver in various advisory and audit roles. He then went on to serve in various financial roles at Golden Star Resources for 14 years, including as the executive vice president and CFO.
He joins Gatos Silver from Nevada Copper Corporation, where he has served as CFO since 2020. He was instrumental in helping to transition Nevada Copper from a development asset to an operating mine and led several successful equity offerings and debt restructurings.
André will take up his new role on 1 July.
