After spending the last four years turning Cell C into a profitable telco, Zaf has taken a sabbatical.
Zaf Mahomed recently stepped down from the role of CFO at Cell C following its successful recapitalisation.
A turnaround specialist, Zaf was responsible for bringing the telco back to profitability. “The recapitalisation is imminent and the sheer effort required to get the business to this stage, ready for its next phase as a transformed digital player, has been the highlight of my career so far,” he says.
Zaf explains that Cell C has been his home for the past four years, and he will miss his colleagues and finance team. “It has been a great experience and I’m confident that the work we did will position Cell C as a sustainable business in the future.”
He adds that one of the highlights of his time with the telco is working with a team on turning a business around and restructuring it at a time when it felt like an almost impossible task.
Zaf has taken a sabbatical to spend some time with his family while he explores a few new business options. Lerato Pule, who was part of his finance team throughout the restructure, has taken over as the new CFO of Cell C.
