Morné Engelbrecht is the chief financial officer of Metals Acquisition.

His previous CFO role was at Beach Energy from 2016 to 2021 before he became CEO of the company. 

Morné has also held several leadership positions at Carbon Energy, including MD, CFO, and CEO.

He has also been a chief controller of LNG development at Interoil Corporation, which has since merged with Exxon, and a GM of finance at Lihir Gold, which has since merged with Newcrest.

Morné started his career in South Africa, as a manager at PwC for six years. After that, he became a financial controller at Harmony Gold, which took him overseas to the Southeast Asia region.

He has a BCom honours degree and a certificate in the theory of accounting from the University of Pretoria, as well as a diploma in accounting from the University of Johannesburg and an MBA from Terrapin.
