Ian Botha graduated with a PGDA from Cape Town University in 1993. He became a charted accountant (SA) in 1995. After a diverse and interesting career in mining he was appointed financial director of Anglo American Platinum in May 2015. He resigned from Anglo American Platinum on 18 February 2019. He is currently the CFO of RHI Magnestia. Ian was previously group financial controller of Anglo American Plc, a position he held since Nov 2009. Prior to this, he was CFO of Anglo American’s Coal Division and its Ferrous Metals & Industrial Division. He has also held a number of different non-executive directorships.
