Laila’s career started young as she helped out at her grandfather’s butchery on Saturday mornings. In 2010, she received her BSc degree from the University of Cape Town, and the year after she was an assistant lecturer at the same university.
In 2012, Laila did her articles with PwC, and in 2013 she became an assistant manager of transaction services at PwC South Africa. In 2015, she was appointed a strategic analyst at Virgin Active before joining Equites Property Fund that same year as a financial manager. She’s since then stayed with Equites Property Fund and has served as executive of group finance, interim CFO and currently as CFO.
She also serves as a director on the board of the Michel Lanfranchi Foundation, which is funded by Equites, through which she advocates for education and representation.
