Masilo Makhura has been the chief financial officer of the Department of Public Service and Administration since 2011.

He graduated as a B.Com student in 1998 at the University of the North, then joined PwC as a trainee accountant. After completing his articles in 2001, he joined Pytron Consulting’s public sector unit, where he was sent to Mpumalanga to implement the current basic accounting system (BAS) in all Mpumalanga government departments. In August 2002 he resigned from Pytron Consulting and joined the government in Mpumalanga in the provincial office of the Accountant General as a deputy director of financial systems. He also chaired the Provincial CFO forum of Mpumalanga. In 2008 he joined the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs in Pretoria as a FD, before joining the Department of Public Service and Administration in 2011.

For his work as the CFO of the Department of Public Service and Administration, Masilo has been nominated for the 2021 CFO Awards.
