Sjoerd Douwenga qualified as a Chartered Accountant after completing his articles with PwC. He has a solid grounding in auditing, reporting, technical accounting and preparation of financial statements. Sjoerd spent eight years in the deals division of PwC where he gained extensive experience in acquisitions involving large, complex, integrated assignments as well as managing large-scale projects from end-to-end. He led work streams on significant local and cross-border transactions developing skills in the analysis, interpretation, presentation and in-depth understanding of business results, trends, issues, risks and opportunities. He has had significant exposure across a wide range of sectors including retail, manufacturing, food and beverage, agriculture and forestry, chemical and oil, security, hotel and leisure, telecommunications, information technology and mining sectors due to assignments performed for major corporate and private equity clients. Sjoerd has worked on assignments in Romania, Turkey, UK, Ireland, Iraq, Uganda and many other countries. He is currently in the position of Group Financial Director at Metair Investments Limited. He has a B.Com degree with Honours in accounting and finance from the University of Pretoria.
