Umar Banda graduated from the University of Pretoria with a B.Com in accounting in 2004. He then worked at KPMG for several years before moving to the Auditor General’s office as an Audit Manager in 2012. In 2014 he was appointed as the acting CFO of the City of Tshwane. He was officially appointed to the post in 2017. Umar is skilled at Budgeting, Internal Audit, Accounting, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and Internal Controls. He has earned an Executive Excellence and Leadership Programme focused in Leadership from Gordon Institute of Business Science and is a Registered Training Officer for the City of Tshwane Chartered Accountants Training Programme (CATP).
