The search for new executives follows former CEO Kingsley Makhubela's allegations of corruption.
Brand South Africa has announced that it is in the process of filling the CFO and CEO roles at the organisation.
Currently acting in the role of CFO is the group’s finance manager Kgomotso Seripe.
Board trustee George Sebulela said in a statement that the board is taking proactive steps to appoint competent people to the key positions. “We are accelerating the process to make sure these positions are filled.”
The statement comes after the entity, which is responsible for the South African brand, handed a document containing allegations of corruption authored by former CEO Kingsley Makhubela to the auditor general to investigate.
Brand SA suspended Makhubela after numerous allegations were made against him through its independently run whistleblowing facility.
“These allegations went through investigations in line with the organisation’s policies and procedures, guided by corporate governance principles, which lead up to Makhubela’s suspension,” the statement read.
Makkhubela issued the document accusing Brand SA of abuse of power, lack of proper governance, maladministration and corruption after a failed attempt at overturning his suspension.
Brand SA chairperson Thandi Tobias said that, even though they are of the view that Makhubela’s allegations are without merit, the entity is committed to consequence management. “We are committing ourselves that in the event that any investigation finds wrongdoing, we will not hesitate to act swiftly.”
Acting CEO Thulisile Manzini said the organisation is focused on positioning South Africa as a key investment destination. “We are continuing to do the work of the country both domestically and internationally.”
