Eskom Pension and Provident Fund CEO Nopasika Lila resigns

Her resignation is effective from end March, and she will work to ensure a seamless transition.

On Tuesday, the Eskom Pension and Provident Fund announced the resignation of Nopasika Lila as their chief executive and principal officer with effect from 31 March 2019.

The announcement stated that, after thorough introspection, Nopasika made a personal decision to to leave the pension fund. 

Nopasika will continue to serve as CEO and principal officer until March and will be working alongside the board and the executive management team to ensure a seamless transition. 

The board stated:

“During her tenure, she has relied on and received great commitment, support and respect from the Board and employees of the Fund.”

They wished her all the best in her future endeavours:  

“Ms Lila’s resignation is a great loss to the Fund and the Board would like to take this opportunity to thank her for her commitment and dedication during her time at the Fund… Through her leadership and active participation serving on various committees and special projects, she has made valuable contributions to the evolution and growth of the Fund”. 

Nopasika joined the EPPF in 2010 as chief financial officer and became chief executive and principal officer on 1 April 2018. She is an independent non-executive director of enX Group and Nampak

In an earlier interview with CFO South Africa, she said that after completing her articles, she was keen on the financial services industry, especially asset management, as it was then still just a buzzword in her experience. 

She joined Old Mutual as an introduction to the industry and then moved to the Public Investment Corporation (PIC), where she served a the head of Compliance and Corporate Governance. 

“I ventured into entrepreneurship when I established Astute Intellect, a financial and governance consultancy. I co-founded this business with Nomfundo, a former CFO of Harmony Gold. I missed the corporate environment and subsequently made the decision to move back, which is why I joined the EPPF as the CFO.”
