Peter has been lauded for his work at the facilities solutions company

Servest CFO Peter Walsh has been nominated for the CFO Awards 2018. This is Peter’s debut nomination. The visionary executive has been lauded for leading Servest’s finance division, steering acquisitions and making telling contributions towards driving transformation, among other efforts.

A dynamic leader, the University of Cape Town graduate joined Servest in April 2012 at the age of 36, after successful tenures at Experian, the V&A Waterfront and Woolworths. He brought with him a passion for communication, leadership and the demystification of finance through partnering with the business.

The annual 'Oscars for South African CFOs', the CFO Awards recognise CFOs of listed companies, large corporations, state-owned entities and government institutions, and awards them for outstanding performance and leadership.

In a previous interview with CFO South Africa, Peter outlined how he saw the role of CFO evolving over the next decade:

“My hope is that the success of a CFO be determined by the bottom line value he adds to an organisation. Traditional back office functions – reporting, auditing, and compliance – should happen as a matter of course. True differentiation should be the result of strategic input and value-add. Effective use of current technology will continue to be a further determinant but, unless you are in the technology space, it is important that technology is seen as a facilitator and not as a driver in the business. The CFO’s integration with the management team, and his credibility as being able to bring operational and strategic value, will define success or failure.”
