Irene Singo nominated for 2024 CFO Awards

Department of Justice and Constitutional Development CFO Irene Singo joins the list of leaders competing for the CFO of the Year title.

Rophiwa Irene Singo has been nominated for the 2024 CFO Awards for her work at the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development.

She joins the list of nominees who will be competing to take home one (or more) of the 10 awards that will be up for grabs at the annual “Oscars of Finance”, including the coveted CFO of the Year title.

Following the grandiose success of the 10th Annual CFO Awards in 2023, CFO South Africa continues to shine a spotlight on the finest in finance and their achievements in the last year. On 13 November, the 2024 CFO Awards nominees will be celebrated during a gala ceremony at The Polo Room in Sandton.

Irene, who is popularly known as “CFO Clean Audit”, was appointed as the CFO of the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development in April 2022. Before this she was CEO of the African Mining and Equipment fund and CFO of the Cross-Border Road Transport Agency (CBRTA). She moved to CBRTA from the Department of Mineral Resources, where she was also the CFO. She was the acting CFO of the Department of Rural Development and Land Reform for two years before this, and also worked as the chief director of financial management at the department for a year during the same time.

She worked as a group accountant at Datacentrix after finishing her training at the Auditor-General of South Africa. Before this, she was an assistant and payroll accountant at the University of Venda.

Irene holds both a CGMA and CTA qualification from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountant (CIMA) and the University of South Africa.
