Adekunle Awobodu new CFO of MTN Nigeria

MTN has appointed Adekunle Awobodu (pictured) as its new MTN Nigeria (MTNN) CFO. Awobodu, the first Nigerian to occupy this position, takes over from Ferdi Moolman, who became CEO of the company in December last year. Moolman was quoted in the media as saying:

"Awobodu's appointment is indeed a strong reflection of the MTN talent management creed; Management's commitment to it and the quality and abundance of talent in MTN Nigeria."

Awobodu has over 22 years of professional experience and international exposure in Finance. He began his career in 1994 with Procter and Gamble Nigeria Ltd., where he held various positions - Group Manager, Financial Analysis & Treasury, Lagos; Group Manager, Plant Finance & Accounting, Ibadan, and Financial/Senior Financial Analyst. He joined MTNN's Finance Division in February 2002 as Fixed Assets Manager and climbed slowly through the ranks, becoming the first Nigerian CFO of MTN Iran.

He holds a Bachelor's degree in Finance & Banking from the University of Lagos and a Master's degree in Finance from the University of Leicester. He also holds several professional certifications, including ACCA UK, Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Management Accountant, CertIFR (ACCA's Certificate in International Financial Reporting), and Associateship of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (ACIB).
