Afrimat has appointed both Pieter de Wit as CFO and Andre Smith, as permanent deputy CFO.
Afrimat, which concluded a deal to buy cement company Lafarge last year, has appointed Pieter de Wit as CFO after he filled the role of integration officer for purposes of the deal.
Pieter, a chartered accountant, has spent 17 years at Afrimat in various roles including that of group financial manager and secretary, and regional director of the KwaZulu-Natal unit.
The CFO describes himself on his LinkedIn profile as skilled in negotiation, cash flow, business planning, internal audit and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). He has an MBA (cum laude) focused on business administration and management, general from Stellenbosch University.
Afrimat, a mid-tier mining and materials company, also announced on 15 January that Andre Smith, who was appointed as deputy CFO over the interim period of consolidating the Lafarge deal, has been appointed as the permanent deputy CFO of the company, effective immediately.
This, the listed company said, is “in recognition of his contributions and capabilities”. The board also thanked Andre for “his exceptional leadership and dedication while serving as interim CFO”.
