Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos is world's second-richest person

Jeff Bezos, CEO of e-commerce behemoth Amazon.com, the world's largest online retailer, has leapfrogged Amancio Ortega and Warren Buffett to become the world’s second-richest person.

According to Bloomberg, 53-year-old Bezos added $1.5 billion to his fortune after Amazon announced its intention to buy Souq.com, a Dubai-based online retailer.

The Bloomberg Billionaires Index shows Bezos as having a net worth of $75.6 billion - some $700 million more than Buffett and $1.3 billion more than Ortega. Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates retains his title as the world's richest person, his fortune weighing in at a mind-numbing $86 billion.
