Suretha van Wyk’s appointment as interim CFO follows the resignation of CFO Desmond Maharaj.

ArcelorMittal South Africa has appointed Suretha van Wyk as its interim CFO until a new CFO is appointed. Suretha, who is currently the senior manager of statutory reporting and is part of the finance team that reports to the CFO, will take up the role from 1 October.

Her appointment follows the resignation of CFO Desmond Maharaj to pursue other opportunities. The group stated that, while the process of appointing a new CFO has been well underway for some time now, it has not been concluded and, despite attempts to do so, the group will not be in a position to appoint a FD at the end of September 2021.

According to the company, Suretha is “well qualified and has the necessary experience and expertise to fulfill the role effectively”. She has been with ArcelorMittal South Africa for a combined period of 12 years, initially serving as the group manager of statutory reporting from 2002 to 2021, and again from 2019 until present.
