ArcelorMittal South Africa CFO Desmond Maharaj to step down

Desmond has resigned as the CFO to pursue personal opportunities outside of ArcelorMittal.

Desmond Maharaj has resigned as the CFO of ArcelorMittal South Africa to pursue personal opportunities outside of the business.

Desmond is expected to step down after 31 July and before 30 September, giving the company some time to identify and appoint a suitable successor. ArcelorMittal said that the process to find a successor will begin immediately and that the company will consider appropriate internal and external candidates.

Desmond was appointed as the CFO in September 2018 and took over from Gerhard van Zyl, who had been acting as CFO following the resignation of Dean Subramanian in May 2018.
