Kumba Iron Ore's CFO Bothwell Mazarura has been nominated for the CFO Awards 2019.

Bothwell Mazarura has been nominated for his work as CFO of Kumba Iron Ore, where he’s known for getting his hands dirty instead of standing on the sidelines.

The CFO Awards 2019, known as the ‘Oscars for South African finance professionals’, gives CFOs of listed companies, large corporations, state-owned entities and government institutions the opportunity to be recognised and rewarded for their exceptional performance and leadership.

Bothwell Mazarura has a Bachelor of Accounting Science Degree from the University of South Africa and is an accredited Chartered Accountant in three jurisdictions – England and Wales, South Africa and Zimbabwe. 

Bothwell served as chief financial officer and executive director of Wescoal Holdings Ltd before joining Kumba Iron Ore. He previously held various senior financial roles at Lonmin Plc. These include group head of finance, head of treasury and acting chief financial officer. Prior to Lonmin Plc, he held a position as a partner at Deloitte. During his tenure at Deloitte, he also spent some time working in the United Kingdom. 

Bothwell was appointed chief financial officer of Kumba Iron Ore in September 2017. 

Kumba Iron Ore produces a high-grade iron ore that is one of the minerals that society needs to develop and prosper.

The company’s production process consists of exploration, planning and building, mining, processing and blending, shipping, marketing and selling. 

It operates primarily in South Africa, with mining operations in the Northern Cape and Limpopo provinces, as well as a head office in Centurion, Gauteng, and a port operation in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.
