Christine Ramon to return to her role as AngloGold Ashanti CFO

Christine will step down as interim CEO following the appointment of a new CEO, Alberto Calderon.

Christine Ramon will be returning to her role as CFO of AngloGold Ashanti in September, following the appointment of a new CEO, Alberto Calderon.

Christine has been serving as the interim CEO of the mining company since the resignation of former CEO Kelvin Dushnisky in July 2020, and Ian Kramer has been serving as interim CFO during Christine’s absence from the role.

In a statement to the public, AngloGold Ashanti chair Maria Ramos thanked Christine for her tireless commitment through a particularly “tumultuous” period globally. “Her leadership was critical in co-ordinating an effective response to the pandemic, keeping the company focused on our strategy and maintaining a strong financial position.”

Maria also welcomed Alberto as the company’s CEO. “We are confident that, in Alberto, we have the right person to lead this company forward and realise outstanding potential, drawing on his huge leadership experience in the resources sector across a variety of geographies.”
